NGK ZFR7F-11 SPARK PLUG
Description
Function and technical context
The NGK ZFR7F-11 spark plug is part of the ignition system of petrol engines, being responsible for generating the electric spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber. Its correct operation directly determines the efficiency of the ignition cycle, the engine's response to acceleration and fuel consumption. A worn spark plug or one with an electrode in poor condition causes misfire, notable loss of power and increased consumption, in addition to generating vibrations and irregular starts that can damage other components of the ignition system. NGK's ZFR7F-11 reference, with fine diameter electrodes and high-performance construction, is designed to ensure stable and efficient ignition in the demanding conditions of the marine environment.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms of a damaged spark plug include difficult or slow starting, unstable idling, jerking during acceleration, increased gas consumption and, in advanced cases, the engine warning light coming on due to a misfire code. In outboard and stationary petrol marine engines, it is recommended to replace the spark plugs every 100 hours of use or at the beginning of each nautical season as part of annual preventive maintenance. Changing spark plugs on a scheduled basis, without waiting for them to fail, is the simplest and most economical way to avoid a wet stop and protect the ignition coil from unnecessary overloads.
