The 69354A2 coupling is part of the transmission system of MerCruiser engines, acting as a mechanical connection element between the engine block and the axle line. Its mission is to transmit engine torque to the propeller, absorbing small misalignments and damping torsional vibrations that, if not controlled, would accelerate the wear of the bearings and crankshaft seals. In the 470 and 485 series engines installed in recreational and commercial boats during the seventies and early eighties, this component is decisive in maintaining the integrity of the entire propulsion line: a deteriorated coupling transmits shocks and asymmetrical loads that can damage the gearbox, the propeller shaft and even the structure of the boat in the well area.
