Function and technical context
Marine gloss in a 750 ml can format is a surface finishing and protection product designed specifically for nautical environments, where constant exposure to humidity, salt and ultraviolet rays rapidly degrades the surfaces of the boat. It acts as a protective barrier on fiberglass, gelcoat, methacrylate and lacquered surfaces, restoring luster and creating a hydrophobic layer that repels seawater and facilitates subsequent cleaning. Its application is part of the aesthetic and preventive maintenance system of the hull and superstructure, avoiding surface oxidation, loss of shine and degradation of the gelcoat caused by abrasion and atmospheric agents. Keeping surfaces treated with quality marine gloss significantly slows the aging of the materials and preserves the resale value of the boat.
When to apply this product?
The main symptom that indicates the need for reapplication is the loss of hydrophobicity: when the water no longer forms drops on the surface but spreads in a sheet, the protective layer has been exhausted and the gelcoat is exposed. It is recommended to apply marine shine at the beginning and end of each nautical season at a minimum, although in areas of high solar radiation or intensive use it is advisable to make an additional application mid-season. Incorporating this treatment into periodic preventive maintenance avoids having to resort to more aggressive abrasive polishing that wears down the gelcoat with each intervention.
