The 804899002 seal is a watertight sealing component that prevents water and contaminants from entering critical areas of the outboard motor. Working on the sealing system of the engine block, it acts as a protective barrier between the marine environment and the internal lubrication and cooling ducts. Its degradation allows infiltrations that compromise the integrity of the lubricant, promote internal corrosion and can lead to engine seizure or progressive loss of power.

When to replace this part?

Symptoms of wear include visible water leaks around the sealing area, presence of milky emulsion in the crankcase oil or accelerated corrosion in adjacent components. It is recommended to inspect the seal at each seasonal inspection and replace it preventively every two or three intensive navigation campaigns, especially in saltwater boats where corrosion accelerates wear. Changing the seal preventively avoids costly breakdowns and guarantees maximum engine reliability while sailing.
