The 25-826152 O-ring is an elastic seal made of synthetic rubber that seals critical connections on Mercury, Mariner, Mercruiser, Parsun and Yamaha marine engines. It operates in engine cooling, fuel and lubrication systems, where it must withstand variable pressures and continuous contact with fluids. Its degradation or deterioration allows leaks that compromise the integrity of the system, causing loss of cooling fluid, entry of water into crankcases, or fuel spills, with the consequent risk of overheating, internal corrosion and engine stoppage.
When to replace this part?
O-rings should be inspected annually or after each heavy boating season, especially if you notice fluid drips at the engine connections, visible hardening or cracking of the elastomer, or progressive loss of cooling fluid with no other apparent cause. Since rubber loses elasticity due to aging, exposure to heat and compression cycles, it is advisable to preventively replace any ring that shows color changes, fragility or permanent deformation.
