Function and technical context

The intake gasket is a critical component of the fuel system in Yamaha four-stroke engines. This piece ensures a hermetic seal between the intake manifold and the engine cylinder head, preventing leaks of the air-fuel mixture during the compression and ignition stroke. Failure or wear of this gasket causes loss of pressure in the cylinder, significant reduction in power, excessive fuel consumption and uncontrolled air entry that destabilizes the stoichiometric relationship. Poor sealing can also cause abnormal vibrations and rough engine idling.

When to replace this part?

It is advisable to replace the intake gasket when visible oil or mixture leaks are detected around the manifold area, when the engine loses power without apparent cause, or when it presents jerks and irregularities in operation even with the ignition and fuel system in good condition. Although there is no fixed change interval, a systematic review of this gasket is recommended every two seasons of intensive navigation or after more than 500 accumulated hours of operation. Preventive replacement prevents unforeseen breakdowns in navigation and protects the rest of the engine components against loss of compression.
