Description

Function and technical context

Metal Green Finish Paint for Perkins Inboard Engines is a protective and presentation coating formulated specifically for metal surfaces of the block, cylinder head and external engine components. Its main function is to protect the external parts of the propeller against accelerated corrosion caused by humidity in the marine environment, salt water vapors and bilge condensation. In addition to anti-corrosion protection, this enamel guarantees visual identification of the engine and preserves the factory appearance of the machinery, something relevant both in technical inspections and in appraisals of the boat. A deteriorated coating allows the appearance of surface rust which, if left untreated, can affect joints, screws and block covers, leading to leaks or structural failures in external components.

When to apply or renew this coating?

The most obvious sign that the engine's finish needs refinishing is the appearance of areas of surface rust, chips, blisters, or widespread discoloration on the casing and external components of the Perkins engine. It is recommended to check the condition of the coating during each seasonal maintenance - especially after winters in areas with high environmental salinity or on boats that work in salt water - and apply a refresher coat whenever mechanical repairs have been carried out that have exposed the bare metal. Preventatively restoring the finish after each major intervention prevents galvanic corrosion from progressing to critical areas of the engine and maintains the value of the installation in the long term.
