Function and technical context

This valve fitting with a 1/4" connection and 10 mm outlet is part of the fuel supply system in outboard engines and marine propulsion groups, acting as a watertight connection point between the fuel hose and the component to which it is connected (pump, filter or tank). The integrated valve allows the fuel flow to be cut off or regulated without having to disconnect the entire line, which is essential during maintenance work or in the event of a leak. A fitting in poor condition can cause fuel leaks, entry of air in the supply circuit or pressure drops that result in starting failures, irregular running or loss of power during navigation.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of a deteriorated fuel fitting are a persistent smell of petrol or diesel in the engine room, visible fuel stains at the hose joints, difficulty drawing vacuum in the manual priming system, or repeated failed starts with no apparent electrical cause. It is recommended to visually inspect all fuel line fittings and valves during each seasonal maintenance, paying special attention to the condition of the plastic or metal body and the tightness of the joints. Preventively replacing a fitting with signs of hardening, cracks or incipient leaks avoids unwanted stoppages in the open sea and minimizes the risk of fire on board.
