Description
Function and technical context
The fuel pump gasket is a critical component of the fuel delivery system on Yamaha outboard engines. This piece hermetically seals the internal joints of the fuel pump, preventing petrol leaks and pressure losses in the supply circuit. A faulty fuel pump or one with damaged seals compromises the constant flow of petrol to the injectors or carburetor, causing misfires, loss of power and irregular engine behavior.
When to replace this part?
Symptoms such as difficulty starting when cold, intermittent stops during navigation, abnormal fuel consumption or a fuel tank with visible leaks indicate that the pump seals have lost their sealing capacity. Although there is no fixed replacement interval, it is advisable to preventively inspect and replace these gaskets during seasonal maintenance, especially if the engine has been idle for several months or the petrol stored is old. Changing the gasket early avoids costly repairs and guarantees reliability in navigation.
