Description

Function and Technical Context

This gasket kit ensures a tight seal between the various components of the outboard motor, acting simultaneously on the combustion, cooling, and lubrication systems. Designed for 90° V6 blocks with Loop Charge intake and carburetor systems, it covers all critical joint surfaces: cylinder heads, cylinder covers, crankcase, and coolant passages. A poor seal on any of these surfaces causes loss of compression, water ingress into the crankcase, or gas leakage into unintended areas, with direct consequences on the performance and integrity of the engine assembly. Replacing the complete kit in a single operation ensures that all joint surfaces are properly sealed, eliminating the risk of having to reopen the engine due to subsequent failure of an adjacent gasket.

When should this part be replaced?

The most common signs of deterioration in the gaskets on these engines are: persistent white or bluish smoke from the exhaust, visible bubbles in the cooling system, a drop in compression detected during cylinder diagnosis, oil stains on the cylinder heads or the engine block, and abnormal noises associated with gas leaks between mating surfaces. It is recommended to inspect the condition of the gaskets every time the cylinder head or cylinder cover is removed and to always replace them as a preventive measure whenever the engine is opened, regardless of their visual appearance. Replacing the complete kit during every major service significantly reduces labor costs at the marine repair shop and prevents unexpected breakdowns while underway.
