Plugged sacrificial anodes are cathodic protection elements designed to be installed directly in holes or ducts in the engine block, acting as a galvanic barrier between the metals of the engine and the water in which the boat operates. This specific anode for Cummins engines works within the seawater cooling circuit, protecting against electrolytic corrosion that affects critical components such as the block, cylinder head and heat exchangers. Replacing the anode preventively, without waiting for its complete exhaustion, is the simplest and most economical measure to avoid damage due to corrosion in the engine block, repairs that can leave the boat inoperative in the middle of the season.
