Function and technical context

The bilge is the lowest area of the hull of any boat, where fuel residues, oil, grease, salt water and organic dirt carried by the normal use of the engine and deck inevitably accumulate. This bilge cleaner in 5 liter format is specifically formulated to dissolve and emulsify hydrocarbons, greases and contaminants typical of the marine environment, facilitating their extraction using the bilge pump without damaging the hull surfaces or the components installed in the bilge. Keeping the bilge clean is not only an aesthetic issue: the accumulation of greasy residue can clog level sensors, deteriorate rubber hoses, clog the bilge pump filter and generate sources of accelerated corrosion on metal surfaces and fiberglass. Furthermore, in many countries and navigation areas, the discharge of bilge water with hydrocarbon content higher than the established limits is expressly prohibited, so the regular use of this product contributes to compliance with current environmental regulations.

When to use this bilge cleaner?

It is recommended to apply the bilge cleaner at the beginning and end of each nautical season, as well as whenever a visible accumulation of oil or fuel stains is detected on the bottom of the hull, a persistent smell of hydrocarbons in the engine room or irregular operation of the bilge pump due to the accumulation of fatty sludge. In boats with intensive use or with engines that have small leaks due to gaskets or seals being replaced, it should be applied more frequently during this maintenance stage. Treating the bilge preventively and periodically prevents waste from consolidating and requiring more aggressive treatments or costly mechanical interventions, also prolonging the useful life of all the components located in that area of ​​the hull.
