The grease gun is a fundamental tool in boat maintenance, used to introduce lubricating grease under pressure into the grease points of nautical mechanisms such as steering shafts, trim joints, thru-hulls, rudder ball joints and other transmission and steering components. It works directly on the lubrication system of mechanical elements exposed to the marine environment, where salt, humidity and vibrations accelerate the wear of parts. Having an adequate grease gun in correct condition guarantees that the grease reaches each nipple or grease fitting with sufficient pressure, ensuring the protection of critical components. When to replace this part?

It is recommended to check the condition of the grease gun during each seasonal maintenance, checking seals, internal valves and the lever or screw mechanism. Preventatively replacing a damaged gun before the start of the season prevents critical grease points from being left without lubrication, which could lead to costly breakdowns in hard-to-reach components once the boat is in the water.
