YAMAHA CARBURETOR FLOAT 6E5-14385-02
Description
Function and technical context
The carburetor float is an essential component of the fuel supply system that regulates the level of petrol within the mixture chamber. This floating element activates a valve mechanism that controls the fuel inlet, maintaining the optimal level necessary for correct atomization and dosing of the fuel. Its poor operation causes lean or rich mixtures, with direct consequences on engine performance, excessive fuel consumption and starting difficulties, especially after prolonged periods of inactivity or navigation in sedimentary waters.
When to replace this part?
Carburetor floats require inspection when you notice behavior such as irregular idle revs, a tendency to choke on petrol, fuel leaks from the carburetor drain holes, or difficulty starting the engine after periods of storage. Although there is no fixed maintenance interval like other components, it is advisable to check its condition during each seasonal inspection, especially if the boat has been inactive for several months. Preventive replacement before detecting failures avoids compromised situations in navigation and prolongs the useful life of the carburetor.
