It is recommended to inspect all the boat's thru-hulls at each seasonal docking, checking the tightness, the state of the sealing with nautical putty and the absence of pits in the brass. Replacing a damaged thru-hull preventively in the shipyard is significantly cheaper and safer than dealing with a leak in navigation.
