Function and technical context

This double female-female connector (manchon F/F) in AISI 316 stainless steel is used to join two sections of pipe or hose in onboard systems that require a safe and watertight connection: seawater cooling circuits, fuel lines, bilge systems or hydraulic installations on boats. AISI 316 stainless steel—with its molybdenum content—guarantees superior resistance to marine corrosion, both in salt water environments and in high humidity atmospheres, making it the reference material in fittings for demanding nautical use. A connector in poor condition can cause leaks in the circuit where it works, with consequences ranging from the entry of unwanted water to the loss of pressure in the system, compromising the safety of the boat and its occupants. When to replace this part?
