F/F/F Pipe Tee AISI 316 Stainless Steel 2"
Description
Function and technical context
This T-branch with female thread in its three outlets is used in plumbing and on-board piping installations where it is necessary to branch a circuit in two directions from the same point, maintaining flow continuity. Made of AISI 316 stainless steel, an alloy specifically indicated for marine environments due to its high resistance to corrosion caused by salt water and constant humidity, it usually works in seawater cooling systems, fresh water circuits, wet exhaust systems, bilge lines or any onboard fluid channeling that requires a watertight and durable branch. The three-way female threaded connection – also known as pipe tee female or valvola T femmina – facilitates direct connection with male fittings, nipples or pipes of the same nominal size, guaranteeing a safe and leak-free seal. Its correct installation is critical: a branch in poor condition or made of inappropriate material can cause leaks, loss of pressure in the circuit or entry of water into sensitive areas of the boat.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms that indicate that a marine plumbing tee must be replaced are the appearance of leaks or moisture in the threaded joints, visible corrosion on the surface of the fitting - especially pitting or red rust stains that in AISI 316 can appear after years of exposure to very aggressive environments or use of inappropriate chemicals - and deformation or breakage of the thread that prevents correct tightening. It is recommended to inspect all pipe fittings at each seasonal maintenance, checking the condition of the threads and the absence of microcracks. Preventively replacing any accessory that shows signs of degradation avoids breakdowns due to flooding or loss of pressure in vital circuits when the boat is underway.
