Description

Function and technical context

This brass tee with three 3/4" female inlets is designed to split or join branches within vessel hydraulic circuits, whether in seawater cooling systems, fuel circuits, bilge systems or onboard sanitary installations. Brass provides excellent corrosion resistance in humid and saline environments, making it especially suitable for nautical applications where conventional steel would be compromised in a few seasons. Its symmetrical female/female/female configuration allows three sections of threaded pipe to be connected without the need for additional adapter pieces, simplifying installation and reducing potential leak points. Poor assembly or a damaged part in this type of joint can cause water leaks into sensitive areas of the hull or engine compartment, with serious consequences for the safety of the boat.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms of deterioration in brass fittings and tees are the appearance of greenish or whitish deposits due to galvanic oxidation around the threads, visible microcracks in the body of the piece or leaks of tightness detected as persistent moisture in the joints. In nautical installations, it is recommended to visually inspect all threaded connections and branches during each seasonal maintenance, especially after a winter with the boat out of the water, when thermal changes can aggravate pre-existing cracks. Preventively replacing any fitting with signs of corrosion or worn threads avoids emergency repairs in navigation and protects adjacent hydraulic systems.
