Spare Valve Handle AISI 316 Stainless Steel 1 1/2" - 2"
Description
Function and technical context
The AISI 316 stainless steel handle is the manual operating element that allows opening and closing the chrome-plated bronze ball valves installed in the boat's seawater circuits. It acts directly on the valve stem, transmitting the operator's rotation to the internal spherical plug that regulates the passage or interruption of the flow. Its presence is essential in bottom intakes, cooling lines, drainage systems and any fluid circuit where quick and safe closure is necessary. AISI 316 stainless steel, with greater resistance to marine corrosion than AISI 304 thanks to its molybdenum content, guarantees long-lasting performance in aggressive saline environments where other materials would give way in a few seasons.
When to replace this part?
The most common symptoms that indicate that the lever needs to be replaced are: difficulty turning or locking of the drive, excessive play between the lever and the stem, visible cracks or localized corrosion that compromises the structural integrity of the lever. It is recommended to check the condition of all valve handles at each seasonal maintenance, especially after a winter in salt water or after beaching work. Preventively replacing a damaged handle is a minimal intervention that avoids being left without cutting capacity in an emergency on board, a situation that could compromise the safety of the boat and lead to much higher cost repairs.
