ANTIFOULING TRANSDUCTOR MARLIN ECO 70 ML
Description
Function and technical context
Marlin Eco transducer antifouling in 70 ml format is an antifouling paint specifically formulated to protect the active surface of sonar transducers installed on the hull of the boat. Unlike conventional antifoulings, this formulation is designed not to interfere with the transmission or reception of ultrasonic signals from the transducer, making it the appropriate solution when applying primer to the hull. Without compatible antifouling protection, the transducer is exposed to colonization by marine organisms – mussels, algae, barnacles and biofilms – which degrade signal quality and can cause incorrect depth or temperature readings. Its application is especially important in boats that remain in the water during the season or that navigate in warm, nutrient-rich waters, where biofouling is considerably accelerated.
When to replace or reapply this product?
The most common symptoms that the transducer has lost antifouling protection are unstable sonar readings, loss of signal on known backgrounds, or a visible reduction in detection range. It is recommended to check and reapply the transducer antifouling at each annual beaching, as part of the hull's seasonal maintenance, ensuring that any remaining biofouling is previously cleaned and that the specific coating is applied before applying the general hull antifouling. Acting preventively during each annual tune-up avoids having to intervene on the transducer in the middle of the season, when its replacement or repair is significantly more expensive and complicated.
