Function and technical context

Velox Plus antifouling in 500 cc format acts as a highly effective biocidal coating applied to the hull and submerged surfaces of the boat to prevent the adhesion and proliferation of fouling marine organisms: algae, barnacles, mussels, barnacles and other macrobiofouling agents. It works at the interface between the hull and the aquatic environment, releasing active agents in a controlled manner that create a zone of continuous biological inhibition throughout the entire sailing season. Its absence or deterioration causes progressive colonization of the hull, which significantly increases the hydrodynamic resistance to progress, increases fuel consumption and can damage the gelcoat or underlying laminate if the fouling is removed aggressively. The orange presentation facilitates visual inspection of the condition of the coating and the application of successive layers, allowing areas with excessive wear to be easily detected.

When to replace or renew this product?

The clearest sign that antifouling has exhausted its effectiveness is the appearance of biological fouling on the hull despite having applied the treatment, as well as a notable increase in fuel consumption or a perceptible reduction in top speed with the same engine speed. As a general rule, antifouling should be renewed every nautical season, coinciding with the annual docking of the boat: it is recommended to gently sand the previous layer, clean the surface and apply at least two coats of the product to guarantee uniform and long-lasting protection. Preventatively treating the hull before each launch avoids costly mid-season underwater cleaning and prolongs the life of the laminate and gelcoat.
