ANODO HAMILTON JET Ø38 (ZN)
Description
Function and technical context
The zinc anode for Hamilton Jet Ø38 is a cathodic protection element designed specifically for Hamilton Jet brand waterjet propulsion systems. Its mission is to act as a sacrificial metal, absorbing galvanic corrosion that would otherwise attack critical components of the nozzle, impeller and casing of the jet unit. Being made of zinc, it is especially ideal for navigation in salt water and brackish water, where electrochemical corrosion is more aggressive. Without effective cathodic protection, the waterjet's aluminum or stainless steel structural components can suffer pitting and accelerated deterioration, compromising the performance and life of the propulsion system.
When to replace this part?
Zinc anodes should be inspected at the beginning and end of each boating season, and replaced when they have lost approximately 50% of their mass, have an irregular surface with deep pits, or have partially fragmented. In vessels that operate in areas with high salinity or that remain in the water for long periods, wear can occur in a few weeks, so it is recommended to check the condition of the anode every 2-3 months during the active season. Replacing the anode preventively is the most economical maintenance measure to prevent corrosion of high-cost components in the Hamilton Jet powertrain.
