Function and technical context

This sacrificial anode made of aluminum acts as cathodic protection on Suzuki DT series outboard motors, exposing itself in a controlled manner to electrolytic corrosion to preserve the critical metal parts of the engine block and housing. It works within the anti-corrosion protection system of the propulsion assembly, being especially relevant in salt and brackish water environments where galvanic corrosion is considerably accelerated.
