Function and technical context

This AMITA4 series aluminum propeller, with 12.5×21 pitch and right-hand rotation, is part of the outboard propulsion system and is the component responsible for converting the engine's power into effective thrust on the water. With four blades designed to offer a balance between acceleration and top speed, it is especially suitable for recreational and semi-rigid boats that have mid-high range Suzuki engines. A 21-inch pitch orients it towards sustained cruising regimes, allowing the engine to work within its optimal revolutions. Wear or damage to the blades causes shaft vibrations, loss of thrust, increased fuel consumption, and can compromise the health of the driveshaft bearings and seal.

When to replace this part?

The most common symptoms that indicate that the propeller needs to be replaced are: abnormal vibrations at different speeds, drop in maximum revolutions above or below the range recommended by the manufacturer, excessive cavitation, or visibly deformed, chipped or corroded blades after an impact with a submerged object. It is recommended to visually inspect the propeller at the beginning and end of each season, and replace it immediately if any deformation occurs, as continuing to sail with a damaged propeller accelerates the deterioration of the thrust bearing and stern tube seal. Replacing it preventively before going out into open water avoids being left without propulsion in compromised situations.
