Function and technical context
The AMITA3 9.9×12 right-hand turning aluminum propeller is the propulsion element that transforms the engine power into the displacement of the boat. Installed on the tail shaft of the outboard motor, it works on the mechanical transmission system, submerged in water to generate the necessary thrust. Sailing performance and efficiency directly depend on the geometry and condition of this propeller; Progressive wear, cavitation or deformation reduce maximum speed, increase fuel consumption and can cause vibrations that damage the shaft and internal bearings of the engine.
When to replace this part?
The propeller should be inspected after each sailing season for cracks, warping, leading edge erosion, or material loss due to cavitation; These damages reduce thrust and generate audible vibrations throughout the hull. It is recommended to replace the propeller when it shows visible wear, when the boat does not reach the expected engine revolutions or when a loss of speed is noticed without changes in other operating parameters. Preventively changing a damaged propeller avoids the risk of breakage in deep water and protects the transmission system from abnormal stresses.
