Function and technical context
N-22 polyurethane glue in 250 cc format is a high-performance structural sealant and adhesive designed specifically for nautical applications where an elastic bond is required, resistant to seawater and the vibrations of navigation. It is used to seal joints, covers, bulkheads, structural closures and cable or pipe passage areas, working as a waterproof barrier in extremely demanding environments. Its polyurethane formulation gives it great adhesion on fiberglass, stainless steel, nautical aluminum, wood and technical plastics, common materials in the construction and repair of boats. Poor or deteriorated sealing in these areas can compromise the watertightness of the hull or deck, with the consequent risk of water ingress and serious structural damage on board.
When to replace or renew this sealant?
The most common symptoms that indicate that the polyurethane sealant has exhausted its useful life are the appearance of cracks, loss of elasticity, detachment at the edges of the joint or water seepage into previously sealed areas. It is recommended to visually inspect all points sealed with this type of product during each seasonal maintenance, especially after wintering or after demanding navigation conditions. Preventively applying N-22 polyurethane glue before obvious leaks appear is the best way to avoid higher-cost structural repairs at the dock or, in the worst case, navigation incidents.
